The musical moments that took me back...

It was 11:30 PM on a Friday night, when I was walking my way back to home. I had switched on the radio on my Mobile Phone. This was one of those lucky nights, where almost every song was picked up from the collection of my favorite songs. It all started with "Kal Ho Na Ho", followed by "Lukka Chhuppi" (Rang De Basanti), "Aashayein" (Iqbal), "Yaaro Dosti" (KK) and many more.

All these songs have memories linked with them. Different places. Different Occasions. Different Times. And a different song.

Kal Ho Na Ho: This song reminded me of my school days, where I was once asked to sing a song, and the one that came to my mind then, was "Kal Ho Na Ho". The song was special, because when I was singing it, my eyes were closed, and later on I realized that the class was cheering me up with the claps and giving rhythm to the song. Its also the song that I once dedicated to a girl in our class. She is one of my best friends, even today.

I remembered the time when we used to go to our college in those public transport Tempo's. It used to be at least seven to eight of us at a time. But we made sure that our thirty to thirty five minutes journey isn't wasted. We used to sing songs throughout the way. The regular participants were Varun and me. Varun isn't the best as far as singing is concerned, but his sense of music is very good. He sings his heart out, and when he does so, nothing else really matters. We all used to keep mute when he used to sing. Others in "we" were Rohit, Anuj, Mohit, Shrish, Amit, Alok and Devesh J occasionally.

One of the songs that he used to sing the most, was "Kuch Iss Tarah" and the other one being "Tere Binn". I am writing these songs, not only because of the fact that he used to sing them, but because that night, I heard them both one after other, and it took me back to those days. :)

Yaaro Dosti: This song took me to our juniors' Fresher Party "Spark". Varun and me (again) prepared a medley of three songs, viz. Yaaro Dosti, Hum Kis Gali Jaa Rahe Hain, and Doorie. One of the best memories of my college days.

Lukka Chhuppi: This song took me back to the day when we recorded our first composition for the college. After all the recording sessions, we all sat down and sang a lot of songs. The last one in the series was Lukka Chhuppi.

Aashayein: This song reminded me of all the practice sessions before one of the biggest events for me, the Mumbai Marathon. As a part of TCS Maitree Band, I was given the opportunity to sing a song. It was Aashayein. Although I could not sing the song in this event due to an early closure, I sang the same in another company event, LSA Awards. This time, it was a combination (medley) of seven beautiful songs.

Last song of the show, just before midnight, was my favorite song, the one which everyone used to ask me to sing, "Tere Liye"(Veer Zaara). I have a very profound memory of this song. I remember the day when after we had finished with a tiresome game of cricket, we all sat down in the pavilion of our college ground, and Anuj asked me to sing this song. When I had finished singing, I saw someone wiping his tears.

This post is dedicated to all those memories......... and the moment that took me back to them...
